What the heck is tradeshowreg.com!?

You have likely just registered for (or were attempting to register for) an upcoming event, either with your company, a tradeshow, or a seminar series. Once you have finished filling in the forms you ended up at tradeshowreg.com. So, what is tradeshowreg.com?

It is an online registration service that allows producers or event managers to forget about the worry that goes along with collecting registrations and payments online. It also allows the registrant to register more easily, make payments more easily, and make changes more easily if necessary. It also gives the peace of mind of checking and rechecking your registration and the status of your payment.

The page that proceed this one is your own personal registration manager. You can use it to do all that tradeshowreg.com allows you to do for the event you just registered for, or ones that you may have registered for in the past, and in the future.

Now is a good time to remind you; if you didn't already do so, make a note of your registrant number and your password for each event you register for.

Why is there a list of events that I have never heard of?

tradeshowreg.com is a system that performs registrations for many companies and groups. You may have registered for an event and not even realized that it was being done by tradeshowreg.com registration.

The other events that you see in your main menu (as well as on 'The Events List' page), are the other events that are currently being registered through tradeshowreg.com. These other events may or may not interest you.

What's a Cookie?

By now, most people are aware of cookies on the Internet. But in case you aren't, a cookie is a small harmless file that we (and other web sites) store on your computer to allow us to recognize you when you return. This makes it easier for you to move around our site without us always having to ask who you are.

Cookies get a lot of bad press though. Some is legitimate and some is myth. First, a cookie cannot do any harm to your computer. It is simply a small text file that you can read with your own two eyes if you know where to find it.

Yes, it is possible for web sites to use cookies to track your movement around the internet and share that information with other groups that want to sell you stuff, but we never do that. We never (ever) track your movement. We simply use the cookie to tell our web site, 'Hey, this is registrant number 123', for example.

Where's my Cookie?

As with everything, cookies don't last for ever. There are a number of reasons why we may not be able to find the cookie we gave you.

bulletYou have never registered using tradeshowreg.com before (yes, perhaps that was obvious!)
bulletYou are visiting us from a different computer.
bulletIt has been a long time since you have been here and your cookie has expired. This does not necessarily mean that we have removed you from our database -- we just can't find your cookie. In this case you can look yourself up.
bulletYou have cleared cookies from your machine. Again, we will still likely have you in our database.
bulletYou have cookies set to 'Not Enabled'. If this is the case, we'd like you to read the brief section above What's a Cookie?

In any case, once you login successfully or register for another event, we will give you another cookie and we should be able to identify you the next time you return. You can login, by the way, by entering your registrant number and password on the New Registrants page. (If your reading this, that's probably the page that got you here).

What do you mean by 'active registrant'?

You may have registered for more than one event with tradeshowreg.com. As mentioned before, it is possible you may have registered for an event and not even realized that it was done by tradeshowreg.com.

Your 'active registration' is the one that you are able to edit at present. If you want to edit another registration that was done with tradeshowreg.com, you need to enter the event, your Registrant number, and password. Once the system has switched your active registration (a.k.a. - registrant) you can review and edit it.

Why would I want to change my active registration or registrant?

When you arrive at tradeshowreg.com, we look for a cookie to see if you have been here before. It is perfectly safe and harmless. We just want to save you some trouble. Based on that cookie, we look up the information for the last event that you registered for or cancelled on tradeshowreg.com.

If you had previously registered for another event, you can search for that one and then review, edit or use that registration to easily start a new registration. This is helpful when you are registering under a different company or have used different contact information (i.e. your home address instead of your business address.).

If your personal information was the same for both events, then changing your active registration does not serve any real advantage if you just want to register for another event.

On the other hand; if the two registrations were done with different personal data or if you would like to review, revise, or cancel, your other registration you do need to change the active registrant account. To do this, simply enter your Registrant Number and Password and the system will switch the active registration for you.

Why do I see information already in the form?

When you arrive at the registration form, we checked to see if your system had a cookie set from a previous visit. It may have been up to a year ago. The registration form uses the information in the cookie to pre-fill the form for you. This will make your registration faster and less prone to errors. There are a couple of incidents where this can be useful.

  1. Case 1: You want to register yourself for an event you attended previously

In this case you can confirm that all of the information is accurate and make any changes and provide any new information the event manager is requesting. When you click the Next>> button, the system will confirm that you have been previously registered and then display a page asking you how you want to continue. You would simply indicate 'Continue' by clicking on the button.

  2. Case 2: You have a number of people you want to register

The pre-fill function is also very helpful if you are registering more than one person with similar contact information. For example, assume you wanted to register 4 people from one company or maybe one family.

By simply changing the information in the boxes where the first and last names appear, you can register each of them in succession without having to retype address and phone number information.
